The Wall
The wall of unfinished quilt blocks…the shelves of neatly folded bits of fabric..my crayon box of creative potential. If you ask most any quilter, they have their “stash”…some have “secret stashes”…some have more than others. Behind closed doors, hiding in the depths of boxes and bags..more hidden potential!
She who has the most fabric when she dies…wins!!!
I don’t really believe that. Really, I don’t. But my list of quilts to DO is a lot longer than the list of quilts I’ve finished. Procrastination. Thinking, and thinking, of just the right design to use up the precious fabrics. Then, changing my mind. Over and over again.
Some people buy fabric to make the quilt as they see it in a magazine, or hanging on display in a quilt store. Not me. I buy fabric for the colors. Because it’s on sale. Because. Just because. Am I a “Fabriholic”? maybe…. I can rationalize all I want, which is telling myself rational – lies. But, I’ll never use all that fabric. So why keep it?
Hmmmm. Because it has possibilities. Potential. For beauty. For comforting someone.
Hmmm. To change and turn all this into a thought for myself for the day…..
Why did God ever make so many different people? Different colors? Different sizes? Etc. etc. etc.??? Is it because we, too, have possibilities? Potential? For beauty? For comforting someone? He made us each unique…colorful individuals..and He keeps us close to His Heart…because He cares for each of us. and our Potential.
Treasures are found in surprising moments..
A photograph, now 2 years old, and 2
great-grandchildren short!
My mother visited us, and a photo shoot with the great- grands was in order…not all were excited about standing still!
We live way too far away to have many of these moments.
But treasure them, I will.

Why I believe in HeavenWhy do I believe in Heaven? When I was small, one of the first things I remember about Faith was that we went to Sunday School. I grew up in the Methodist faith, so Sunday School was a big deal. Our minister was a really tall, large built man, with a deep booming voice. His [...] |

Just AskIn the back of the church is a small table where “free for the taking” items are placed. I recently found a beautiful magazine, which describes itself as “Devoted to Informing and Inspiring Today’s Catholic Families.” I found several articles that did just that for me. The Catholic Leader article called Just Ask, by Joseph [...] |
“Only” a MotherTen years ago. . . . . You asked what I have done to promote pro-life so that you may perhaps learn what more you could do.. I am 49 years along in my life. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to be a mother. My dolls were “real” to me as I [...] |
Snakes, snakes and more snakes.I found an interesting article on this topic, and it renewed my interest in writing and praying in this manner. But in addition, it connected me to another important journal. The stories that my mother-in-law wrote. A treasure. I stumbled upon a notebook that contained her stories. I had typed them all up years ago, [...] |
Hello world! This is perfect! I grew up in western Nebraska, on a wheat farm. My husband, did, as well. In addition, he was on a custom cutting crew in high school, when I first met him. My friend, Brandon, who is hosting my site, helped me figure out the YouTube posting. This was just a test [...] |
The State of UnderwearWife has been my main title for 39 years …Mommy right behind it for 35 years. It has been difficult to keep the proper balance between the two roles. I guess my advice is to do the best you can, and if you make some mistakes along the way, to look forward and not backward. [...] |
Trash Into TreasureMy Treasures this incident happened in October 2000…. I lost the diamond in my wedding ring..the “big” one. Of course, I don’t know when or where. But yesterday, when I was cleaning, I remembered that I stepped on something sharp, I thought it was a piece of glass, picked it out of my toe, and [...] |
